Indian Architecture

Heritage

Indian architecture is very renowned and popular around the world. Starting from the Mughal reign to modern-day Indian architecture, there are enough skilled artisans in the present era to build and construct solid masterpieces to preserve and restore the heritage of the country. Agra, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are considered some of the preferred destinations to witness the grandeur and elements of ancient Indian architecture.

Talking about Indian architecture, we have to go back to the Mughal empire, where distinguished and remarkable features can be traced in the remnants of the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, etc., which have been revamped by the Government of India to regain the lost glory and the heritage of the nation. Agra is one place in India where the relics of the architectural work by the workers and artisans of that era can be outlined. The architecture of India stands among the finest architecture in the world and is a proud factor for the nation. The architecture of India has seen subtle changes in today’s generation and cannot be compared with the ones that existed during the Mughal reign. Ancient Indian architecture can also be tracked in places close to Madhya Pradesh, including the Khajuraho temples, Dilwara temples in Mount Abu and Ajanta, and Ellora caves and paintings in Aurangabad.

The Taj Mahal is a solid example of a monument built in ancient India by the Mughals

Talking about the Taj Mahal, which was built by the craftsmen deployed by Shah Jahan during the Mughal empire, one can depict and trace Indian architecture characteristics and designs and compare them with the modern generation. There is a lot of disparity in terms of the service provided by the craftsmen of ancient times, and the quality has definitely fallen in the modern era. This is due to the lack of skilled workers in the country and the decline of superiority and excellence in this field. But we can definitely go back to that generation and try to fill and close that gap that is mislaid today. The Government of India has reconstructed and revamped the Taj Mahal to regain the lost glory and heritage of ancient India.

Agra Fort is an example of the ancient architecture of India built during the Mughal empire

Another edifice is the famous Agra Fort, which cannot be compared with any of the super-constructions in today’s world. Agra fort is located in proximity to the Taj Mahal, and tourists spend a day or two in Agra to view all the lost architecture that went missing in India many years ago. The works depicted in the architectural findings are exemplary and superficial and should be taken as a solid example if one wants to build similar constructions or structures in modern India. Agra, Delhi, and some other places have similar architecture that should be compared with modern-day Indian architecture to restore the lost glory and grandeur.

What is missing today in India is the patience of craftspeople and their competence and expertise in this sphere. They should be remodeled and resurrected to rebuild the evolution of Indian architecture and preserve its lost heritage and grandeur. The Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Red Fort, Charminar, and Dilwara temples should be taken as solid examples of Indian architecture styles from the past to rebuild similar architecture in today’s generation and retain the heritage of the country.
