Thajiwas Glacier is located in Sonmarg in the district of Jammu and Kashmir. Is is one of the most enchanting and fascinating happenings in the life of a climber traveller.Trekkers and climbers from all corners of Himalayas gather around in a group to make a round circle and celebrate their victory and joy.
Snow remains throughout the year all around the region and make the most interesting event in the local Jammu Kashmir news channel. The best time to climb the glacier would be around March-April where one can feel the smell of fresh snow.Ice skating and skiing are one of the most popular events happening in this place.Local horses do operate in this area and are a means of helping the aged.
Climbing this glacier was one of the most important and interesting happenings in my life.It was a tough climb and i enjoyed every moment of it and the presence of fresh snow made it even more memorable and exciting and cherish for entire life.I used the same trekking gear that I normaly use to climb any mountain but had to take extra caution to manage the slippery rocks because of heavy rainfall during this time of the year. The local climbers made it even more joyful and easier as they knew the hazards in the route. They were quite helpful in deciding the correct route in climbing the glacier. The experiences were quite rich and diverse and was one of the most fascinating mountain climb in my life.I climbed it along with 2 local climbers in a time span of less than 2 hours. The entire picturesque was amazing and breadth taking and some of the biggest peaks of Northern Himalayas like Amarnath and others are even visible from the sight.
The Kunzum Pass –When it is required to embark an adventure, the first thing that comes to the mind is exploring the Kunzum Pass which encircles the Bara Shigri glacier. It is one of the highest motorable passes in India which is also the gateway to Spiti,Kaza valley.
The journey to Kunzum Pass was undertaken from Manali,HImachal and it took a whooping 4-5 hrs to reach the spot.I was a bit sceptical about the weather during this time of the year but was happy to see a clear and bright sky amidst of the clouds encircling the high valley mountains.Snowfall was less as compared to last year but the temperature was cold amidst of all the speculations from different people across the region.
It was fun and adventurous when we stepped inside the car and after seeing the mystique landscape it took our breadth away.Notable places that fell in between are the Rohtang pass and Gramphoo which separated Spiti from Lahaul valley. There were ridges, waterfalls across the way which made the environment even more cooler and smoother.
There was fresh vegetation across all the areas that came through the way and we could see even small cottages and camps throughout the journey. There are people living in these areas but life is quite tough and challenging. It was quite a good experience to know the local people around as some looked like Half men-Half cartoon creatures especially the younger ones.
Kunzum Pass is surrounded by the Bara Shigri Glacier,Indias longest glacier all around and the picturesque is quite amazing and educating. It resembles more like a cold desert surrounded by dry arid mountains..There are even stupas located all around the valley which is quite breadth taking.A few kilometres walk from the pass can you to the Sweet Chandrataal Lake..Much to our surprise there were more foreign tourists as compared to the local ones and they looked even more pretty tired and exhausted than us.The food in this region brought in the charm to satisfy us and even the local people were quite supportive and gentle.
Above all,a must visit place for all travel enthusiasts across the globe….
The Blue Mountain peak of India popularly known as The Neelkanth Peak can be seen from Badrinath,Uttarakhand. It glitters in the evening and its majestic view can amaze anyone.Though smaller in size as compared the other peaks this peak looks ravishing and splendid throughout the day.It looks blue in the evening when the light of the moon falls on it obliquely. The sight is very enchanting for mountain and travel photographers and wanderers.
This time 3 of us decided to conquer the blue mountain peak.It was an early morning when we decided to climb this peak with our trekking gears and without much difficulty we reached the summit and there was victory and joy in everyone’s face.It was a mixed feeling while climbing the peak and we halted at stages where we felt a bit gloomy and tired but was intelligent to quickly overcome the feeling and later decided to do something for a memory. We planted our own small flag in the hill top to make it memorable and cherish for entire life.
When we came down it was evening and joy in everyone’s face and later moved on to a restaurant to refresh and revitalize ourselves with a charming whisky and some loaf of bread. Also in the city premises we could see cool breeze blowing throughout so it was difficult to go out anywhere after dinner. The Holy shrine of Badrinath was also something to cherish for whole life where people come from all over the world to seek his blessings and prayers and good wishes. Most importantly, this peak looks stunning at night time and hypnotizes everyone with its scintillating appearance. The color is mostly light blue which creates an unfathomable hysteria in everyone’s mind to go and feel the essence and the magic that lies inside the mighty mountain peak.
